We are a nonprofit with the mission to inspire responsible meat consumption and production through experiential education. Our main goal is to help individuals and communities across the country start their own Meat Collectives. What's a Meat Collective? It's a one-of-a-kind, hands-on meat education and sourcing model that was first launched in Portland, Oregon in 2009.
From 2009 to 2014, only one Meat Collective existed: The Portland Meat Collective. Now individuals from Seattle to El Dorado county in California are running their own Meat Collectives. Meat San Diego and the Southern California Meat Collective have launched their own programs. The community of Gainesville, Florida has even adapted the model to their community. And several dozen more individuals are in the process of launching their own similar meat education programs.
As more and more Meat Collectives are born, the Meat Collective Alliance serves as THE definitive resource for transparent, hands-on, responsible meat education across the country, encouraging everyone we reach to rethink meat consumption and production in their community and the world at large.
